WaveCorps

WaveCorps is a summer service program funded in part by AmeriCorps VISTA. WaveCorps volunteers on 2 different teams support organizations working on issues vital to south Louisiana- education and slowing coastal erosion. The education focused team works to prevent summer learning loss in K-12 students through entertaining camps that bridge the time between the school year. This summer, students will work with summer programs at A's and AcesUpward BoundUpturn Arts

The second team tackles environmental issues including coastal restoration and improving urban sustainability. Our partners include the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, Woodlands Conservancy, SOUL, Water Map, Green Light New Orleans, and Glass Half Full.

Participants will receive a living stipend of $2700 (for the 8 weeks), an end-of-service education award of $1400 (which can be applied to your tuition or a qualifying student loans), as well as training and professional development from Tulane. The program runs during June and July each summer, including training and orientation sessions. If students would like to add a public service internship to their WaveCorps experience, they need to complete additional hours of service at the end of the program as well as take part in a weekly seminar at Tulane. Please inquire for further information and registration details regarding the internship option.
