The Place-Based Justice Network Summer Institute will be held at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, July 15th to Thursday, July 17th. The institute welcomes colleagues from campuses and communities across the network to learn together, share knowledge, hold space, discuss our unique and shared challenges, and strategize how to move the work of anti-oppressive, place-based engagement forward.
This Year's Theme: Roots to Limitless Possibilities: a We-Making Journey
This institute will explore the symbolic journey from "Roots to Limitless Possibilities," offering a transformative experience through the lens of community engagement, cultural and historic wisdom, and artistic expression. Drawing on themes of ancestry, personal growth, and future potential, the conference structure unfolds over three days, each focusing on a key symbolic element: Rooting, Bearing & Being, and Making.
Concurrent conference sessions will provide in-depth discussions, while Bursts of Brilliance sessions will offer rapid, insightful presentations on innovative practices and ideas. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to engage in site visits, deepening their understanding of community work in the vibrant context of New Orleans.
